Taking advantage of 64-bit support in ColdFusion 8

This Adobe DevNet article was just posted by the Adobe ColdFusion QE own team lead, Manju Kiran, on how to take full advantage of the new 64-bit WIndows, OSX, and Linux support added in the new ColdFusion 8.0.1 Update that went out a few days ago.

Check it out here: http://www.adobe.com/devnet/coldfusion/articles/64_bit.html

Hi Damon,

I know it would be documented somewhere but I would like to ask here again just to share with other users also.

If we have already CF8 license, can we install 64 bit CF801 and use our license? Are there anything related with the 32 and 64 bit CF licenses?

Thanks in advance.

Your existing ColdFusion 8 license can be used to install the 64-bit version of ColdFusion 8.0.1 if you are running ColdFusion Enterprise. You will need to uninstall the 32-bit version first. Theoretically you are running on a 32-bit operating system today and should change that to a supported 64-bit operating system, and then install 64-bit ColdFusion. If you are using ColdFusion Standard, you can only install the 32-bit version, but you may now install that on a supported 64-bit platform.

All of the existing ColdFusion 8 license keys will work with 8.0.1.

Hope that helps, Jason
